Biography

Dr. Talal A. Ghazzawi is a prominent Saudi legal practitioner with a particular interest in Islamic Sharia law, commercial law, contracts law, maritime law and arbitration. He commenced practising in 1969 and is considered one of the pioneers of the legal profession in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He laid the foundations of Al Ghazzawi Professional Association (now AlGhazzawi & Partners), which is today one of the leading law firms in the Kingdom, with offices in Damman, Riyadh, and Jeddah.

Through Dr. Talal’s efforts in the development and harmonisation of business law, he has made a great contribution to the promotion of the legal profession in the Kingdom, whilst also assisting several large-sized foreign companies in undertaking different activities in the Kingdom during its developmental stage. He also advises and provides counseling on numerous critical matters ranging from corporate law to Sharia law.

Dr. Talal is a member of various local and international professional bars and associations including the American Arbitration Association and the American Bar Association. He is also Chairman of several Ghazzawi Group companies engaged directly, or through joint ventures, in construction, contracting, real estate, manufacturing, and trading activities.

He has acted as board member for several public and private companies including the Saudi Railroad Organisation, Saudi Fisheries and Dhahran International Exhibition. He is currently an honorary board member of the Prince Sultan Fund, a not-for-profit organisation supporting women undertaking small business projects.
